More on CCP International Influence
WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party expressed concern about the CCP’s growing presence in the Arctic, particularly the national security risks posed by Chinese dual use military research in the region. In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the lawmakers lay out problematic CCP-backed dual use research activities in Iceland and Norway, emphasizing the security risk this may pose to our NATO allies and the United States. The letter also emphasizes the importance of working with our allies and partners to counter this threat.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) today released the statement below on joining the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC).
“The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China is crucial for international cooperation that will help counter CCP aggression, secure supply chains, and stand together to uphold freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. I look forward to providing important American perspectives with leaders from around the world in order to confront these challenges.”

- Chairman Moolenaar's opening remarks
WASHINGTON D.C. — Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Congressman Greg Murphy M.D. (R-NC) sent sent a letter urging United States Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen to include U.S. Coast Guard facilities and other sensitive sites under the jurisdiction of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The letter also asks the Secretary to hold CFIUS reviews retroactively when a site is newly added to CFIUS’s list of sensitive sites. As our adversaries encroach on U.S. territory and Chinese Communist Party-affiliated land purchases increase across the United States, the lawmakers stress the importance of protecting Coast Guard bases just as we protect military bases in the CFIUS process.
