Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the Select Committee on China has cosponsored legislation to prohibit the use of remote sensors and imaging equipment from China in American vehicles. The Stopping Adversaries From Exploiting (SAFE) LiDAR Act was introduced by Select Committee member Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and it bans the use of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) from firms based in or controlled from China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the Select Committee on China and Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) are co-leading bipartisan legislation to stop the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from accessing advanced AI chips through cloud platforms, by giving providers the tools they need to flag suspicious behavior and report misuse by America's adversaries. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on China and Chairman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) of the Committee on Homeland Security sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem expressing alarm about the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s ongoing partnership with Alibaba Group—a key piece of the CCP's digital surveillance and censorship state. They were joined by Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on China and Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS) of the Committee on Homeland Security.

Currently, Alibaba is slated to support the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House Select Committee on China is alerting the public to an ongoing series of highly targeted cyber-espionage campaigns that we have concluded are linked to the Chinese Communist Party. These campaigns seek to compromise organizations and individuals involved in U.S.–China trade policy and diplomacy, including U.S. government agencies, U.S. business organizations, D.C. law firms and think tanks, and at least one foreign government. 

Washington, D.C. —  The House Select Committee on China has issued subpoenas to three Chinese state-owned telecommunications companies—China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom—after the companies failed to respond to a formal bipartisan congressional request for information sent on March 4. These subpoenas demand compliance by May 7, 2025, and are part of an ongoing investigation into whether the firms are continuing to operate in the United States in ways that could impact national security and Americans’ data privacy.
