WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, alongside Chair of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Co-Chair, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), sent a letter to Secretary Antony Blinken following the Hong Kong authorities' issuance of bounties on pro-democracy advocates, including a U.S. citizen and a U.S. resident. The letter urges Secretary Blinken to impose sanctions on the Hong Kong and CCP officials who placed these bounties and facilitated this flagrant transnational repression.
Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party wrote to Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, recommending innovative solutions to counter Xi Jinping's historic military build up and threats to Taiwan. Xi Jinping has ordered the Chinese military to be ready for an invasion by 2027. Recent war games show the United States would run out of key weapons in a matter of days during a Taiwan invasion scenario.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- This evening, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, held a hearing titled "CCP Transnational Repression: The Party's Effort to Silence and Coerce Critics Overseas". In the hearing, members heard harrowing firsthand stories of the CCP's intimidation tactics from Ms. Anna Kwok and Mr. Jinrui Zhang, and heard testimony from human rights expert, Dr. Sophie Richardson.

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the below statement following the Biden Administration's announcement to issue sanctions on some CCP officials under the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act.
"While we welcome this news, the Biden Administration has dragged its feet to implement sanctions under the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act (UHRPA) for far too long. Most alarmingly absent from the administration’s designations is Ma Xingrui, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) boss in Xinjiang, who is responsible for implementing the CCP’s genocidal policies against the Uyghurs and other ethnic groups.
