Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Rep. Joe Courtney (D-CT) today introduced the American Security Drone Act of 2023 alongside Select Committee Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA). The act would prohibit the federal government from purchasing drones manufactured in countries identified as national security threats, such as the People's Republic of China (PRC).

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Mike Gallagher today released the statement below on Chinese Coast Guard and maritime militia vessels ramming Philippine Coast Guard and resupply ships carrying supplies to troops stationed on the BRP Sierra Madre in the Second Thomas Shoal.
“On two separate occasions over the weekend, vessels of the Chinese Coast Guard and maritime militia forces rammed Philippine ships operating legally in the South China Sea. The Chinese Communist Party’s dangerous, and illegal, attacks against our ally are completely unacceptable It is time to take additional measures to support our commitments under the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty, including by assisting the Philippines in establishing a more secure and permanent foothold on the Second Thomas Shoal.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party today expanded a bipartisan investigation into U.S. venture capital firms investing in People's Republic of China (PRC) high-tech by launching an inquiry into Sequoia Capital and Sequoia Capital China, following the announcement that the entities will split in early 2024. GGV Capital, another venture capital firm the Select Committee is investigating, recently announced a similar separation of its U.S.
