China-Made Vehicle Ban Has Growing Bipartisan Support
The Connected Vehicle Security Act now has more than 100 cosponsors in the House of Representatives. The bipartisan bill, led by Chairman John Moolenaar of the Select Committee on China (R-MI) and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI), would prohibit the importation, manufacture, and sale of connected vehicles, software, and hardware linked to China.
“My bipartisan legislation protects the American people and secures the future of American manufacturing. China cheats on trade and threatens our national security. We cannot allow its vehicles into our country, or it will use that opportunity to bankrupt U.S. companies, cause massive job losses, undermine the security of our infrastructure, and hollow out the foundation of our nation’s manufacturing base. The total effect would leave our country more dependent on China for everything we need. Thank you to my colleagues in the House for their support of this legislation and for recognizing the threat posed by China’s vehicles,” said Moolenaar.
