WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party today wrote to the Biden administration, calling for immediate action to counter the malign trade actions of drone manufacturers in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Companies like DJI and Autel Robotics receive immense subsidies from the Chinese government, enabling Chinese drone makers to overtake 77 percent of the U.S. hobby drone market and over 90 percent of the U.S. commercial drone market.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) unveiled the findings of their bipartisan investigation into five U.S. venture capital firms. The lawmakers found that these firms invested at least $3 billion in, and provided expertise and other benefits to, People's Republic of China (PRC) critical technology companies, including many aiding the Chinese military, surveillance state, or the CCP's genocide in Xinjiang.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), and Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), and Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee urged the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to work expeditiously to initiate a rulemaking on shipping exchanges and establish healthy and fair competition in the global shipping market.
“CCP state-owned enterprises are quickly gaining market dominance in global shipping exchanges,” said Chairman Gallagher. “The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission must accelerate much-needed regulation to ensure American shippers and exchanges are not steamrolled by their CCP-backed counterparts.”
As part of their ongoing investigation into Ford Motor Company’s partnership with China-based EV battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) to build a Michigan factory, Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) of the House Energy and Commerce Committee uncovered evidence that Ford plans to use technology and software from at least four Chinese companies that supply the same types of IT tools to the Chinese military, North Korean government, and China’s Ministry of Public Security.
In letters sent to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the lawmakers requested that the Biden administration immediately blacklist these four companies that Ford plans to use in its new factory with Chinese battery maker CATL.
