Trump Administration Takes Action on Chinese Farmland Purchases

Today, Chairman John Moolenaar of the Select Committee on China released the following statement regarding Secretary Brooke Rollins and Secretary Pete Hegseth announcing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Pentagon and the Department of Agriculture to increase collaboration and better protect American farmland from foreign adversaries:

“Farm security is national security,” said Moolenaar. “Time and again we have seen China-linked entities buy American farmland near sensitive military sites. It’s clear that China is taking advantage of our laws, and Americans would never be allowed to buy land near sensitive sites in China. Today’s announcement from the Trump Administration will increase cooperation in the federal government to protect our nation’s farmland. I look forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration on this critical issue.”
