Moolenaar: The CCP is Not Interested in a Constructive Relationship

Chairman John Moolenaar of the Select Committee on China made the following statement on newly declassified files revealing further efforts by the Chinese government to divide American society and influence our elections:

“The Select Committee has said for years that China is waging economic and political warfare against the United States, and the newly declassified documents by President Trump confirm that the CCP is continuing its efforts to influence our elections and undermine the American way of life. The documents are a reminder the CCP views our democracy and God-given rights as a threat to its grip on power. They are also more evidence the CCP is our most formidable adversary and is not interested in a constructive relationship. Instead, the CCP seeks to weaken us, turn us against one another, hollow out our economy, and undermine our resolve. Ultimately, it seeks to turn our country into a compliant source of capital and technology to fuel its push for global dominance."

“Americans should unite and refuse to let the CCP succeed. The administration’s transparency in releasing these documents is an opportunity for America to establish the strong bipartisan policies needed to confront CCP threats. The Select Committee will work with the administration to continue its historic efforts to secure American supply chains, impose consequences for the CCP’s malign actions, enforce our national security laws, maintain robust entity lists, and ensure China lives up to its commitments with the United States."
