Moolenaar: Revoke China's Trade Status – It’s Selling Missiles to Iran

February 24, 2026

This morning, media reported that China is planning to sell supersonic anti-ship missiles to Iran. The missiles would increase Iran’s ability to target U.S. ships.

“China serves as the arsenal of America’s adversaries, and now it's reportedly selling missiles to a regime that chants ‘Death to America.’ This is yet another reason we must revoke China’s privileged trade status. This will give the administration more leverage in negotiations, protect national security, and level the playing field. China has taken advantage of America for too long, arming our enemies while it undermines our economy and working families," said Moolenaar.

In January 2025, Moolenaar and Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-NY) introduced the Restoring Trade Fairness Act, the first bipartisan bill to repeal permanent normal trade relations with China. The legislation would implement tariffs of 35 to 100 percent depending on the whether or not a product is critical to national security.

Chinese companies have also been sanctioned by the U.S. for supplying weapons and dual-use components to the Houthis – an Iran-backed terrorist group – who have attacked U.S. naval vessels over 170 times since 2023. The U.S. government has also sanctioned Chinese companies for aiding Russian weapons manufacturers. China has provided military technology and support to the Maduro regime in Venezuela, to Cuba, and to other adversarial regimes globally.
