Moolenaar: New Trade Deal Supports American Jobs and Signals Continued Trump Administration Partnership with Taiwan
Today, Chairman John Moolenaar of the Select Committee on China released the following statement on the new U.S.-Taiwan trade deal negotiated by the Trump Administration. As part of the deal, Taiwan will purchase $44.4 billion worth of liquefied natural gas, $15.2 billion worth of civil aircraft and engines, and $25.2 billion worth of power equipment.
"This new trade deal supports American jobs and continued prosperity between the United States and Taiwan," said Moolenaar. "Taiwan is going to invest billions of dollars in America and purchase billions more in American-made products. The deal also shows the Trump Administration’s continued partnership with Taiwan, which is a vibrant democratic society and a crucial part of critical supply chains. Congress will continue to do its part by supporting Taiwan in a bipartisan manner and opposing the Chinese Communist Party’s authoritarian ambitions."
