Moolenaar Gives Thanks for Release of Pastor Jin
Pastor Ezra Jin has been released by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and has reunited with his family in the United States. Jin was arrested by the CCP in October 2025 for leading Zion Church, a house church in China.
“By God's grace, Pastor Ezra Jin has been reunited with his family after being imprisoned for more than 250 days for the simple act of sharing his faith in Christ. Thank you to President Trump for calling for this during his meeting with Xi Jinping and thank you to his Administration for all the work it did to make this happen. The CCP should continue to release all prisoners of conscience so they can be reunited with their families and follow their faith without fear of persecution,” said Chairman John Moolenaar of the Select Committee on China.
Moolenaar has regularly called for the release of Jin, as well as Jimmy Lai, and other people of faith being unjustly detained by the CCP. In March, he hosted a Daughters of Dissidents event held on Capitol Hill in March with Grace Drexel and Claire Lai, the daughters of Pastor Jin and Jimmy Lai respectively. The Select Committee has also routinely called attention to China’s Sinicization of religion, a coordinated state-run campaign persecuting people of faith. The Select Committee will continue to work with its partners in Congress, the Trump Administration, and outside of government to advocate for human rights and the release of prisoners of conscience in China.
