WASHINGTON, D.C. — In two letters to the Department of Homeland Security, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) reveals shocking new evidence implicating major Chinese battery manufacturers, Gotion and CATL, in Chinese Communist Party state-sponsored slave labor and the ongoing Uyghur genocide. Despite CATL and Gotion holding these ties to Chinese paramilitary organizations and state-sponsored slave labor programs, the companies have operated and expanded their presence in the United States.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Chairman John Moolenaar today released the statement below following reports that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC)-manufactured chips have fueled Huawei artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators, in a major circumvention of US export controls.

“Reports that cutting-edge TSMC-manufactured chips have contributed to Huawei’s AI development represent a catastrophic failure of US export control policy. AI accelerators, like the one that these chips fueled, are at the forefront of our technology race with the CCP, and I fear the damage done here will have significant consequences for our national security. Congress needs immediate answers from both BIS and TSMC about the scope and volume of this disaster. The U.S. government must take immediate steps to ensure this does not happen again.” 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on China and Chairman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) of the Committee on Homeland Security sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem expressing alarm about the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s ongoing partnership with Alibaba Group—a key piece of the CCP's digital surveillance and censorship state. They were joined by Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on China and Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS) of the Committee on Homeland Security.

Currently, Alibaba is slated to support the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Chairman John Moolenaar and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party announced the formation of the Select Committee's Policy Working Group focused on countering the Chinese Communist Party's control of critical mineral supply chains. Critical minerals are used in everything from semiconductors and wind turbines, to electric vehicles. 

The Critical Minerals Policy Working Group will be led by Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA) and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL). Reps. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), Haley Stevens (D-MI), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Ritchie Torres (D-NY), and Ben Cline (R-VA) will also serve on the Critical Minerals Policy Working Group.

The Fentanyl Policy Working Group will be led by Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA). Reps. Neal Dunn (R-FL), Ro Khanna (D-CA), Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Ritchie Torres (D-NY), and Michelle Steel (R-CA) will also serve on the Fentanyl Policy Working Group.
