This morning, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party delivered remarks as the featured speaker at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation's event "Can China Innovate in Advanced Industries?"

Spearheaded by Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA) and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL), the Select Committee's Critical Mineral Policy Working Group  spent months evaluating the United States’ deep reliance on the CCP for critical minerals and developing solutions.

Over the past two years, the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and the Committee on Education and the Workforce’s (Committees) investigations revealed how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) exploits U.S. universities—and gains access to U.S. government-funded research—to fuel its military and technological rise.

The members were joined by Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA), whose district includes Reedley, CA, Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), and Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL).

As part of their ongoing investigation into Ford Motor Company’s partnership with China-based EV battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.

Chairman Gallagher calls on Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to add blacklisted Chinese supercomputing company Inspur’s subsidiaries to the Entity List to stop U.S. technology firms from bypassing the restrictions on Inspur by simply shipping to those subsidiaries.

Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI), House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN), and Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security Chairman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) sent a letter to Acting U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Kevin E. Lunday, requesting information on the Coast Guard’s actions to mitigate risks posed by a state-owned enterprise from the People’s Republic of China (PRC), COSCO SHIPPING, and its operations within the U.S. Maritime Transportation System.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party wrote to the CEO of Anzu Robotics, demanding answers about his company’s relationship with People’s Republic of China (PRC) military drone company, DJI.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party identified the growing risk posed by Chinese Wi-Fi routers in the United States manufactured by TP-Link Technologies and called on the Department of Commerce to verify this threat and investigate the company.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) today sent a letter to Department of Commerce Under Secretary Kathi Vidal urging the Administration to provide a full accounting of the national security damage already caused by the United States and China's Science and Technology Agreement (STA). Despite the Biden Administration claiming that the STA has resulted in no dual-use technology transfer, we know that the Chinese Communist Party has previously leveraged the STA to advance its military objectives and will do so again. Alarmingly, the Biden Administration has extended the agreement twice.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party wrote to the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, VA about the county’s use of Chinese-made DJI drones. DJI is on multiple federal government lists for its potential to spy on U.S. soil, its deep ties to the Chinese military, and its work to equip the CCP’s genocide against the Uyghur people.

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Mike Gallagher and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party today wrote to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel requesting information about the threat of Chinese cellular modules infiltrating, tracking, and sabotaging American Internet of Things (IoT) devices. 'IoT devices' refers to any electronic device that could be connected to the internet, ranging from cars to refrigerators.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Yesterday, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party sent a letter to Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel of the Federal Communications Commission concerning a recent transaction involving Zhejiang Dahua Technology (Dahua), a leading video surveillance equipment manufacturer from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). 

Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party wrote to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel following reports that U.S. cell phones and other devices are receiving and processing signals from Chinese and Russian satellites in violation of the FCC’s rules.

Most of the modern economy relies on satellite GPS systems – the energy grid, stock exchanges, aviation, and wireless 9-1-1 services. The FCC allows U.S. and European satellites to provide the connectivity for these crucial services and devices.

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party wrote to the CEO of the U.S. Navy Exchange, requesting the removal of CCP-linked Lenovo products from the discounted marketplace available to servicemembers. Lenovo is a Chinese technology company with extensive ties to the People’s Liberation Army and the CCP's state-directed espionage campaigns. Lenovo’s largest shareholder is the Chinese government.

Currently, the U.S. Navy Exchange offers at least ten CCP-linked Lenovo computer and IT products.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs requested a classified briefing from the Biden administration as the chairmen remain concerned that without robust protections, sensitive U.S.-origin technology transferred as part of the Microsoft-G42 partnership could end up the CCP’s hands.

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and members of the Select Committee on the CCP, today sent a letter to Secretary Antony Blinken calling on the Administration not to renew the Agreement Between the United States and the People’s Republic of China on Cooperation in Science and Technology (STA) that will expire on August 27, 2023. The lawmakers cite concern that the Chinese Communist Party has previously leveraged the STA to advance its military objectives and will continue to do so.

Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) and other bipartisan lawmakers to call on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to sponsor a federal prize competition in support of satellite technology that offers internet accessibility for repressed citizens of authoritarian nations like China or countries at war.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and Chinese Communist Party wrote to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo about the threat of China’s growing silicon photonics industry, which represents the next front in semiconductor competition, and the need to bolster domestic innovation in this field. Photonics is a technology that relies on light particles to transmit information.

Following the Chinese Communist Party ban of Micron, Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, and Michael McCaul (R-TX), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, calling on Commerce to work with Japan and South Korea to ensure their companies do not take market share lost to the ban and undercut Micron.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party urged Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to impose strict redlines in a soon to be published ‘Export Control Framework for AI Diffusion.’ This framework would establish the protocols in which high-end U.S. technology used in Artificial Intelligence can be exported abroad.

Rep Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo raising serious concerns about export control risks for Emirati artificial intelligence firm, Group 42 Holdings (G42), and their extensive business relationships with Chinese military companies, state-owned entities, and the PRC intelligence services.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party today sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo urging Commerce to continue taking action to address the national security threat of Huawei by addressing its buildup of clandestine semiconductor facilities used to circumvent US law, and restrict the flow of US-produced semiconductor manufacturing equipment (SME) to Huawei and its clandestine chip network.

Chairman Gallagher calls on Treasury Secretary Yellen take steps to cut off U.S. technological and financial support to PRC companies that aid and abet its balloon surveillance program, especially given the history of U.S. technology aiding advanced PLA weapons systems.

Green, MD (R-TN), Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security Chairman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), and Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX), along with Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI), deepened their joint investigation into security vulnerabilities in the U.S. maritime sector, particularly relating to CCP cybersecurity and supply chain risks.

In two letters to the Department of Homeland Security, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) reveals shocking new evidence implicating major Chinese battery manufacturers, Gotion and CATL, in Chinese Communist Party state-sponsored slave labor and the ongoing Uyghur genocide.
