WASHINGTON, DC – While Ford Motor Company announced on September 25 that it has paused its partnership with a Chinese battery maker, lawmakers continue to have serious concerns that Ford has refused to comply with three separate congressional inquiries into its secret licensing agreement with CATL, a Chinese Communist Party-aligned EV battery firm.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, alongside U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chris Coons (D-DE), sent a letter to MSCI's President Henry Fernandez outlining significant concerns after the firm removed its forced labor red flag for Volkswagen's factory in China.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs requested a classified briefing from the Biden administration as the chairmen remain concerned that without robust protections, sensitive U.S.-origin technology transferred as part of the Microsoft-G42 partnership could end up the CCP’s hands.

According to recent news reports, this decision came in the context of differences between Apple and Mr.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI), and all 11 Republican members of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen calling on the Office of Foreign Assets Control and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network to investigate six People's Republic of China (PRC) companies that support Iran’s military and energy sector. These companies help Iran circumvent U.S. sanctions already in place, and jeopardize U.S. strategic interests.

Following a rigorous examination of BlackRock and MSCI's Chinese investments decisions Chairman Gallagher and Ranking Member Krishnamoorthi today launched an investigation into the two firms. BlackRock manages trillions of dollars, drawing from Americans' hard-earned pensions and savings, and MSCI directs the investments of funds from millions of Americans' bank accounts.
